When I walked through the doors at CrossFit Kairos I was half scared out of my mind. I had watched a few events on TV, supported some friends and family in one of their competitions and went to watch my husband compete at an “in house” competition and I was awe struck! Here were groups of athletes of every shape and size and fitness level pulling together and cheering each other on and I was hooked! I wanted to play too! So with the support of my husband I made the leap and I have not regretted it once. The people at Kairos are so encouraging, helpful, nice and just all around great people. The coaches are some of the best around. They help you find your limits, your weaknesses, your strengths and if you want it, they help you push forward and ahead. I have spent years being a gym rat on my own, scavenging the internet for workouts and routines to become more fit and I felt like I finally hit a wall.  Unless I wanted to compete in a bodybuilding competition, which I didn’t, I had gone as far as I felt I could and I wasn’t happy about that. But with CrossFit I see a lifetime of work ahead of me, always building, always something more to do and always a way to get better. I’m now about to do my own competition with some of my gym peeps from CrossFit Kairos and even though I am still nervous, I am looking forward to doing this with a team and as a team, which is one of the things that drew me to CrossFit. Team work, camaraderie, individually working hard to help one another as a team. Like I said I’m hooked! I could go on and on, the people at CFK and the coaches there are top notch and keep it fun and keep you going. No other place I would rather be!

I am beginning to see results and see my body change! I cannot thank you and your staff enough for pushing me to those limits and helping me reach deep down and just get it! I never thought that I'd ever step foot back in a gym. I am so happy that I didn't just pick an ole gym, so glad to be a part of the community at Kairos. You guys rock!

Hesitated to post this, but I decided I earned it !!!
The very first pic was on 5/2/2017 when I was gong in to get induced to have Miss Emerie aka Porkchop. I was 197.7 (met my goal of not getting to 200)
The pic on the right is 5 months post baby at 148.8lbs
I rcv’d my 10% weight loss goal since starting weight watchers on 6/12/17
So I have lost 18.6lbs so far
Not stopping there though !
Almost can get my wedding ring almost on !!!  I started crossfit a little over 2 years ago and stopped due to surgery, having an unexpected baby via c-section on 5-3-17 and a lot of it was just pure laziness
I recently started back in October 2017  after having my baby and I needed to to lose some weight and I was terrified about going back after so long and starting over. But I showed up anyway. I still struggle mentally, physically  and emotionally about having to start over, but I tell myself every member has been a beginner just like me. I’m not where I want to be with my body weight, eating habits and lifting but I choose to take it all one day at time and I will become a better me, not only for myself, but for my husband and daughter.  Kairos has become my second family and I have met so many new people who share a lot of the same  goals as myself. I will become stronger and it will  because of the amazing support system we have! Come stop by and check us out!

Are you investing in your health?

I had an epiphany about two years ago when visiting with my doctor. He said, "why do we invest in our retirement, in our homes, in our education and in our "must have" luxuries but NOT in our health so we can enjoy all these things we are investing in when we get older?" I sat there and thought to myself, "why aren't we?"

From that point on, I've made a commitment to my health and fitness needs. I'm not perfect. I have set backs, but am quickly reminded of why I chose to eat better and stay active. I want to be healthy and fit and enjoy an active lifestyle as I grow older.

The photo on the left is right before I started this journey and right before I joined CrossFit Kairos Jan.1, 2016. The photo on the right is from a few days ago. I feel better. My mobility is better. I'm stronger. I'm fitter. My outlook on food is different. I don't look at food as a pleasure but rather than fuel for my body. I still give into occasional temptations but I'm learning to be wiser.

I encourage you to invest in your health. Take the time and make the time. It's a process and a new way of thinking, but it can literally save your life. If you need help starting your journey, come see us. You won't regret it!

 


Holly Suman

Four months ago I made the choice to make a change in my life, I joined CrossFit Kairos. I was really nervous because I am out of shape, over weight, and not as young as I once was. I was welcomed from the beginning with open arms from incredible coaches and members who are all not just friends, but my box family ❤️

I made some goals to lose weight, get in shape, get stronger, get fitter, become more flexible. The past four months have been incredible! I have set a ton of personal records that I honestly never thought I could do. I have learned how to eat better. I have a network of personal cheerleaders who have rooted me on, encouraging me along the way.

I didn’t think I was cut out for crossfit, now I wish I had joined earlier. I have lifted heavier, ran further, jumped higher, pushed myself to do so many amazing workouts that I just didn’t think I was capable of, but I am, slowly and surely I have got stronger, more flexible, gained more endurance week after week. Crossfit has been the hardest thing I have ever done, no kidding, but the most wonderful thing I have ever done for myself, it has been a life changing experience and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Guess what everyone?! I just hit my weight loss goal I set for myself in January. My goal was to lose 30lbs and I did it. I have also lost almost 9% body fat since January! This month is my 1 year Anniversary at Crossfit Kairos. This year has been one crazy journey! I can’t believe all of the amazing things I have accomplished since joining the Kairo’s family. In just 365 days I have climbed higher, hiked further, ran faster, lifted heavier than I ever imagined I could. I love CFK mostly because of the amazing people I have meet there. They are my support system, my cheerleaders, my inspiration and my friends. From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank-you to each and every one of you for helping me reach my goals and pushing me to dream bigger.


Aaron Burrows

I joined Crossfit Kairos around last March. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. My wife Cassie had kept telling me I should try crossfit; that maybe I would even like it. I would just keep telling her I will one of these days when i got into shape or some other excuse. I had seen crossfit workouts on TV and what Cassie would tell me about them when she got home. They sounded terrifying! I thought to myself that there was no way that i could do that. My body would never be able to do the wods or the Olympic lifts that I was seeing and hearing about. There was something intriguing about it though, and I was seeing how it was changing her body into a work of art that Picasso would be proud of. So after a couple of months of trying to dodge and talk my way out of it I finally got up the nerve to try it. It is always scary trying something different or new and for me this was way out of my comfort zone. I have been lifting off and on for nearly 20 years "bro style"...the benchpress, the curls, you know the "fun stuff". I was so nervous my first day walking into the gym but as it turned out; the day I walked into Crossfit Kairos was the day my life changed. I have met some of the most wonderful people on the planet and have gotten into the best shape of my life probably  since I was in high school. I have fallen in love with Crossfit Kairos, the workouts, the atmosphere, the people...my brothers....my sisters. I suffer with them and they suffer with me. We come together and we become stronger each and every workout. We push each other and we help one another get through the days workouts and the days events that life throws at us no matter what. There is not another family I would want to be a part of. Crossfit Kairos is my home.
